Hannah Blurton
District 9 Commander -

Hannah Blurton was elected Commander for District 9, VFW Department of Tennessee in 2024 and is very proud to be the first woman to hold this position. 
Hannah joined the US Navy in April 1988 and transferred to Army Retired Reserve in November 2014, completing over 26 years of military service between the US Navy, US Navy Reserve, Army National Guard, US Army, and US Army Reserve. 
She earned her Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) membership while serving as a geospatial intelligence analyst at Camp Humphreys, South Korea.  
In recognition of her service, Hannah received the Meritorious Service Medal, Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Commendation Medal, US Navy Battle Efficiency Ribbon, Army Achievement Medal (x2), Army Good Conduct Medal (x3), Navy Good Conduct Medal,  Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (x2), National Defense Service Medal (x2), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Army NCO Professional Development Ribbon (x3), Army Service Medal, Army Overseas Service Ribbon, Navy Sea Service Medal (x2), as well as the Army Senior Aviation Badge. 
She joined the VFW in 2019 after retiring & moving to West TN and is a Life Member of VFW Post 4780 in Milan. 
Hannah has served in elected and appointed positions at the Post, District, and Department levels, as well as at the national level, as a member of the Veterans Service Resolutions Committee. 
She is a life member of the VFW National Home, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), & Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), an annual Member of the American Legion (AL), a member of Tennessee Veterans organization (TNVET), and serves as the Women Veterans liaison in West TN / District 9 for VFW & AL and in West TN / District 8 for DAV. 
Hannah is retired; however, she is very active providing assistance/guidance regarding benefits available for fellow veterans and their families, both locally & nationwide. 
She serves as Service Officer for VFW Post 4780, Gibson County AL Post 287, and DAV Chapter 7; in 2021, she became a Certified Level I Veterans Service Officer through DAV and was certified as a Level II Veterans Service Officer in June 2024.
Hannah's husband & oldest son are also active members of the VFW Department of TN at Post 4780.
