James Boggess
State Chaplain - Army

James (Jim) Boggess served a total 36 years in the Army, primarily with the National Guard and Army Reserve. Between his deployments and two stints on the Active Guard/Reserve (AGR) he retired with 24 years of Active Federal Service. He served in the Army National guard as an infantry man and an engineer officer. In the Army Reserve he served as a transportation officer with deployments to Uzbekistan and Iraq. After finishing seminary, Jim continued in the Army Reserve as a chaplain with a deployment to Afghanistan before rejoining the AGR program and serving on the Army Reserve as a full-time chaplain culminating in his appointment as the Command Chaplain for the U.S. Army Reserve Command. Jim is a Gold Legacy Life member of Post 6908 in Mountain City, TN. He has served as a chaplain at both the Post and District levels before being elected as the Department Chaplain.
